about
Del Ray is the first single from Sola Rosa’s forthcoming album Get It Together due for release in Feb 09. Del Ray’s laidback and sundrenched buzz is very much in keeping with what we’ve come to expect from Sola Rosa over a number of memorable albums and singles and features Mariachi horns rubbing shoulders with spacey sci-fi and a loping beat like some Martian Morricone. Head honcho Andrew Spraggon presides over production, synths, samples, cuts, and synth bass while cracking the whip on cohorts Will Scott (stickman for Dimmer, King Kapisi, Anika Moa, and Goldenhorse) on Drums; Guitarist Ben White; percussionist Miguel Fuentes (Issac Hayes, Grover Washington, George Benson); Ivory tinkler Kevin Field (Nathan Haines, Marlena Shaw); and Kim Patterson Mariachi marshalling on trumpet. Get It Together is Sola Rosa’s best album yet, and there’s no better introduction than Del Ray.
